Different Styles of Recruitment

We often feel the frustration for our candidates when they call us and are anxious to hear about how the result of their interview went and when we say "I haven't heard or been able to reach the client yet" we can feel the tension over the phone!

When this happens (not if) to you, please be aware that we do not always have that "direct connect" with the employer.  You'd be amazed at the variance of availability and priorities of each of our clients, some are so efficient and prompt to deal with, while others are vastly under staffed/over loaded and those that shall remain nameless are just "bl**dy useless". We'd love to be able to say that all of our client relationships are perfect and all of our clients themselves are perfect...but we'd be lying~!

Although we have a very close and efficient working relationship with the majority of our clients (those that we work on retained assignment for, particularly) we also have what we term as the "contingency" requests. In other words we will be asked "have you got one of these sorts of people on your database?" What this generally means is that we do not often have the chance to get to know the client and quite often haven't worked with them before. Then we may ring you as a candidate and ask if you are interested in the role.

It is important that as someone who may be looking for another job at anytime in the future through recruitment firms that you are aware of the different styles of relationship that we have with our clients...never assume it's a seamless direct connect and always ask the recruiter what type of relationship they have with their client.
