In 2004 Technical Focus interviewed 25 General Managers to get their perspective on what it takes to carve out a career in the manufacturing and supply chain sector.  This report covers the findings of that research and actions you can take.

Let me provide you with some "food for thought" and useful tips and techniques that you can use (either now, or sometime in the future) in the job-hunting process (be they active or passive).

We often feel the frustration for our candidates when they call us and are anxious to hear about how the result of their interview went and when we say "I haven't heard or been able to reach the client yet" we can feel the tension over the phone!

Many of you will be aware that Technical Focus is only a small recruitment firm.  The fact that we are focused on manufacturing, supply chain and technical management roles only and the fact that we predominantly only deal with FMCG, food, pharmaceutical, and hi tech companies in Sydney and Melbourne at the moment means that we can pick up on a new recruitment trend very quickly.

It's been very disappointing over the last ten years to see so many manufacturing sites close down in Australia due to globalisation etc and I'm sure that most of us involved in this industry have our own opinions on what the government could do to improve/support  the situation without just quoting "free market" to us.
